Amborzasco

Amborzasco is the most populous hamlet in the municipality of Santo Stefano d'Aveto, situated at the foot of Mount Aiona and offering a splendid view of Mount Penna. The village, with about 70 inhabitants, strikes visitors with its characteristic architectural layout, made of ancient stone houses connected by charming arches that tell a long story.

Strolling through the alleys, you can discover buildings of great interest, such as a medieval shop with the IHS monogram, the Tower House, and other historical constructions linked to the life of the village. Amborzasco retains a soul deeply connected to nature and the surrounding woods, reflecting a sylvan and mountain tradition.

Heart of the village is the Church of the Holy Guardian Angels, built in 1702 and richly decorated with stucco, marble, and frescoes. Inside is the statue of the Madonna of Good Counsel, created by Maragliano's workshop. In the surroundings of the village, along the paths towards Mount Aiona, one encounters a panoramic small chapel tied to a suggestive popular tradition.

Among the testimonies of rural life, the Bacin Mill stands out. Active until the 1970s, it can now be visited during the traveling festival. Along the old road to Alpicella, there is also the ’Posa dei morti“ (Resting Place of the Dead), a stone once used during funeral processions.

The life of the village is animated by the Pro Loco of Amborzasco, which organizes events and festivals, including the patron saint's feast and the characteristic itinerant food festival, a journey through local flavors and traditions that highlights Ligurian and Emilian gastronomic culture.
